Like every business, Collins Barrow Toronto began with an idea.

A group of seasoned professionals working for a Big 4 accounting firm envisioned a firm that would offer a comparable level of specialized knowledge and breadth of service, coupled with an entrepreneurial spirit and a client-focused approach.

It was an idea whose time had come.

Collins Barrow Toronto LLP was founded in 1992 as DMCT, LLP with a mission to provide clients with sophisticated, in-depth financial advice and an exceptionally high standard of service. Since then, we have served more than 1000 companies, both private and public, in a wide range of industries. Today, our team of highly skilled professionals possesses a diverse range of competencies and specialized experience.

In July 2009, Collins Barrow Toronto merged with Bay Street mainstay Smith Nixon LLP.  A merger of equals in approach, culture and talent was the result of the two firms sharing the goal to become the premier mid-market accounting firm in Toronto.

Smith Nixon LLP was founded in 1962 with a commitment to assisting clients manage and grow their businesses and personal wealth.  The hallmark of the practice was and remains the provision of value-added advice on a wide range of issues through relationships based on trust, accessibility and depth of expertise.  They have a reputation of excellence of service to both owner-managed and public company businesses.

Together we have created a firm of 22 partners and more than 130 staff members.
